Next Friday the 20th, we’re hosting a special wine tasting with Loredana Vivera, the producer of Vivera wines. Loredana will be showcasing six different wines from her two estates in Corleone (Palermo), and Martinella (Catania), Sicily.
The Vivera family have been growing grapes for many generations. Loredana and her brother Eugenio remember watching their parents tending to their vines, the smell of the sea breezing through vineyard rows, Mount Etna raised majestically before them. Martinella provides the right balance of conditions for farming organically, and preserving these beautiful natural settings.
Martinella estate extends over 12 hectares on the north-eastern slope of Etna, at 550-600 metres above sea level. They grow Nerello Mascalese, Nerello Cappuccio and Carricante, producing Martinella Etna Rosso, Rosato di Martinella Etna Rosato and SalisireEtna Bianco Doc. The soil is volcanic, and the conditions are ideal for producing long-lived, elegant and mineralistic wines.
Corleone estate extends over 30 hectares at 400 metres above sea level in western Sicily. Here they grow international and indigenous grapes, producing Terra dei Sogni Sicilia Red IGP wine made of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Nerello Cappuccio, and Altrove Sicilia white DOP wine with Chardonnay, Catarratto and Insolia grapes. Both wines are elegant, fresh and impressive.
